  Opinions / Writings Needed
"Strike The Tent..." is still soliciting (close to begging) historians and/or college professors to give their honest opinion about this blog. I am also looking for contributors to add stories, writings, opinions, and discussion to the blog. If you are interested. please email me at fifthnycav@yahoo.com. Thanks...

I noticed that you linked my blog (Civil War Memory to this blog so I thought it might be appropriate to respond to your question. Seems to me the most important question to ask is the purpose of your blog within the class structure. You've used it for the syllabus, but the random posts suggest that it lacks a theme or a general puropose. I am a high school teacher and a Civil War historian and I've played around with the idea of using a blog in my own courses for next year. That said, I am still not quite sure what I would do with it. One possibility is to use it for your students to engage in discussion in reference to a question that was asked in class or as a place to share ideas for some type of research topic. I like the idea of a place where more reserved students could share their thoughts about readings or class discussions. That's it for now. Good luck with the blog.
